On today’s menu: Are your excuses f******g outdated?
The Brain
How many times have you said “I don’t know how to do that” in the last few days?
Be honest.
At least a few times, right?
Me too.
Now, that’s not really surprising.
It’s a natural response to a new and unfamiliar situation, isn’t it?
Well, here’s the problem with that:
We literally have all of the world’s knowledge at our fingertips.
Youtube. AI. Google.
There’s almost no situation or problem you can be confronted with that doesn’t have solution somewhere in the depths of the internet.
The excuse of I don’t know how is completely f******g out of a date in the most literal sense of the word.
And, sure, we know that logically.
On the surface — when you read this idea in some perfectly manicured snappy post that someone presents on social media — it makes perfect sense.
And yet many of us still use this excuse as a f******g crutch — including yours truly.
I mean, how many times have you been presented with something, your brain makes the excuse it can’t be done because you “don’t know how” and then later, upon reflection, you realize you probably could have worked it out if you had actually f******g tried?
Probably a lot.
This is yet another example of how your brain can insidiously hijack your life, and stop you from, you know, actually f******g learning and growing.
But what can you do about this?
Simple.
Don’t listen to your brain.
This is the power we all have.
We often forget that we can dismiss our brain’s excuses and choose to go in the direction that we want.
This is something I’m trying to practice now.
If I find myself in a position where I tempted to make the aforementioned excuse, I take the following steps:
I stop.
I pause.
And I f*******g fight back by finding out how to do the thing my brain says I can’t!
Try it.
It’s surprisingly effective.
You might actually learn something.
Oh, you’ll be showing your little b***h of a brain exactly what you are actually capable of.
P.S. Exciting news!
